Jacaranda is proud to have conceived and successfully put together Writers' Block – a non-pretentious festival of writing that allows writers to meet their readers, in a completely informal setting. Underlying the festival is a strong thread of the arts, both visual and performing.

While the focus is always writing, we have also showcased writing in line with the arts, featuring film-makers, lyricists and theatre personalities. We have had a wonderful mix of authors, including Anita Nair, Shashi Warrier, Shashi Deshpande, Ramachandra Guha, Boverianda and Nanjamma Chinnappa, Suguna Iyer and Kaveri Nambisan to mention some.

What makes our festival different is the fact that it is open to anyone who is interested. It is a traveling festival, in every way. Within cities, we change venues through the day, for the duration of the festival. So far, Writer’s Block has been held in Bangalore, Mumbai and Beijing.
